Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute

The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) is a leading African research institute focusing on sexual and reproductive health, HIV and vaccine preventable disease. It was established by Professor Helen Rees in 1994 to support the new South African government formulate and implement new national policies around sexual and reproductive health. Today Wits RHI is a multi-disciplinary institute with an extensive portfolio that includes research, programmatic support, training, policy development, health systems strengthening and technical assistance at national and international levels. The institute’s areas of expertise encompasses HIV, sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs). The Wits RHI representative on the JHB-MHF is Pascal Minani, who is also the forum’s secretary.
